The Moten Core

For those friends, family, and fellow gamers who know John and me well, you know that we sure do love our video games!  I wasn't a big gamer until I met John, and once he stole my heart (which didn't take long) he quickly put a controller in my hand and had me plugged in to the gaming world.  Our motto has become "the couple that plays together, stays together." lol

  After about 6 months of leveling our toons on World of Warcraft (WoW) , John and I finally have made it to Moten Core (MC)!!  We joined a wonderful new guild last week called The Lion's Den and made our first trip to the core this past Saturday.  While the weather outside was cold and snowy, the gaming room in our house was alive with the fire of the Core.  Our first run was a big success and we took down the first 3 of 10 major bosses

1. Lucifron 

2. Magmadar                         

3. Garr

Unfortunately, John had to work on Sunday and could not be there for the second day of MC- duty sucks!!  We continued on to defeat Gehennas, Shazzrah, Golemagg, and Baron Geddon.

There are 3 bosses left, Sulfuron Harbinger, Majordomo Executus, and Ragnaros.  While we don't expect to be able to be the final bosses in our next run since it takes lots of practice to take down all the bosses in MC, we are looking forward to lots of guild runs into MC to get more experience and above all have some great times! 

Them's Fightin' Words cowboy!

Like most children, when I was growing up, I was taught that certain 4 letter words were so offensive that they were only used by the dirtiest of potty-mouths.  Words like the "f-word", the "sh-word" and the "d-word".  Now that I am an adult, and married to a salty sailor no less, I've learned to turn a deaf ear to such words and have even been known to spout off with a few in genuinely irritating situations.

John and I are avid gamers and have found a whole new list of offensive or provocative 4 letter words.  The 4 letter words of the future!  Words such as noob, gimp, gank, and pwnd.  While these words may seem innocent enough, when they flash across your screen in all caps and "/yell red", they can really get you heated. 

What do these words mean you may be wondering, well.....

Noob- 1. A person who is new and or inexperienced to an environment, situation, or game, but doesn't admit it. This person also carries the belief that they are experienced / skilled in that environment, when reality proves otherwise.
2. A person who continually fails and does not learn from their mistakes, and repeats the process.
3. A person who isn't all "there" but doesn't realize it. (this word has many variations, such as nooblet or uber noob, which helps determine the level of your noobish behavior.)

Gank- When a group of people kill a single opponent in a MMORPG. Taken to abbreviate a "gang kill".  It can also mean to kill someone in a MMORPG, by dishonorable methods.

Gimp- In MMORPG's, this means to accumulate stats, attributes or skills is such a way that your character is almost useless or to create and develop a weak character because of gaming inexperience.

Pwnd- Pwnd is basically getting your butt seriously kicked. It is based on another popular word "ownd". Power + ownd = pwnd. Basically it means to be schooled in such a way that to NOT mock you afterward would be an affront to PVP'ers everywhere.

So, next time you see the following flash across your chat window " I pwnd you six ways 'til Sunday, you noob! LMAO!!" followed by a /gesture or /spit or " No wonder you got ganked, you can't PvP for sh*t, you gimp!"  You will know that you are clearly being insulted with the 4 letter words of the future!  You may be tempted to counter-strike with a /ingnore.

Ladies Night in Azeroth

Sometimes the real world can be a little more than you can handle, whether it's because you are missing your spouse, feeling under the weather, or just having a rough go...it's times like these that it is fun to slip in to the virtual world of Azeroth to help forget your troubles.  Azeroth, place where night elves, tauren, gnomes and all manner of other fanciful creatures of the virtual world come to life. 

Having a spouse attached to the seventh fleet often means you are spending your evenings cooking for one, and putting extra blankets on the bed to keep warm at night.  Sometimes though, you get the chance to get together with your girlfriends to drink, laugh, and WoW it up! 

Azeroth was taken by storm last night by the All-Girl Negishi power team, consisting of Ami, Joni, Rey and Aime (along with honorary gal pal Royal via ventrilo chat).  We lifted our glasses and our finest staves and swords in honor of MIA Babyshoes and Auriga!  Hurry home guys, we miss you!

It's so John!

For those of you who know John well, you know he's a big video game fan and currently enjoys a game called World of Warcraft.  While playing with each other this past weekend, I got a screen shot of John's character, Babyshoes, making a classic John gesture....

Although when you look at this photo, you may see a gnome warlock in Southshore, however, when I look at it, I see John.  I guess it's true, when you love someone, you see them everywhere!
