In 2004, Japan had a total population of 127.69 million people. Roughly, that's about 341 people per square kilometer. A far cry from the wide open spaces of the American mid-west where John grew up, where his closest neighbor was miles away.
John has always enjoyed riding motorcycles, however, here in Japan, having a two-wheeled form of transportation is almost a necessity for efficient travel. The average drive time by car, on a good day, from Yokosuka to Negishi is about 50 minutes, and it's a total of about 16 miles. In an attempt to shave off a bit of that commute, we purchased a Kawsaki 250cc bike for John to ride between work and home.
On October 15th, he participated in the CFAY advanced motorcycle saftey course and is now ready to face the congested streets of Japan! The only bad news is that even the largest Japanese helmet doesn't fit him (he's just got a really big brain!), so he's anxiously awaiting his specially ordered helmet so that he can begin racing through the streets of Yokohama!
